The Balm Dot Com!

So most of you probably heard about the highly-anticipated 24-hour 50% off sale that the Balm set out to start on April 1st.  Well, it turned out that everyone and their brother (sister?) did too, which caused the site to crash like nobody's business.  They are currently updating (and expanding) their server, and are postponing the sale until that process is finished!

However, little old me was able to get through (after much refreshing and quadruple-checking to make sure that everything I had tried to fit into my cart had actually gotten there), and I made my first purchase from the Balm!

I didn't really know much about this brand.  I had seen some of the products being used by Youtubers I subscribe to, and was interested in learning more about it.  After the briefest of research, I heard that the blushes and eyeshadow palettes were good, so I knew I wanted to try some. I had been looking for a palette similar to the Urban Decay Naked palettes (Since I still at this point cannot justify $50 for an eyeshadow palette, haha), and decided that I wanted to try the Nude 'Tude from the Balm.

Plus, at 50% off, how could I RESIST?! I couldn't, of course.

I literally could not WAIT to get the items I had ordered.  They came yesterday, and I opened them ASAP.  I haven't gotten to use all of them yet, but once I do, I will write more.  Maybe a short post about each product as I use them? We shall see, we shall see.

Here's what I got!

  • Hot Mama!--peachy, shimmery pink blush
  • Frat Boy--light pink, oh-so-innocently-perfect blush
  • Instain in Toile--strawberry matte blush
  • Instain in Swiss Dot--peachy matte blush
  • Meet Matt(e) Nude--all matte, all nude eyeshadow palette! (Two because one's a gift for my little sister--shhh! Don't tell her!)
  • Nude 'Tude (Naughty)--an awesome mix of shimmery and matte eyeshadows in one adorbs palette

First Impressions (before use):

Firstly, I love love LOVE the packaging.  It's retro and has character and everything is sort of cheesy, but awesomely so.  It's got a sort of soft feel to it as well--not shiny and smooth, but sort of...velvety feeling?

The Instain blushes are a LOT brighter than they looked on the website.  Not a problem, but I know that the blushes from this brand are pretty pigmented, and that these blushes in particular are supposed to be longer-wearing, so I will have to work with them to tell more about them.

The shadow palettes? I can't even wait to try them.  So psyched.

During the wait to receive my package, I did a little more research about some of the other products from the Balm.   And now, of course, I already want to buy more.  Hurry up, server expansion! :)

P.S.  I heard that you can sometimes find the Balm products at TJ Maxx and Marshalls??? I looked it up, but everything I could find was dated last year.   Next time I go to TJ Maxx, I'll have to look to see if I can find any goodies.  'Twould be awesomesauce.

Peace and cupcakes! I'm outskies.
